Geography

The Department of geography is considered one of the old departments of the faculty of natural Sciences. It was founded in 1948 as a part of Karakalpak state pedagogical Institute, department of Geography and Chemistry, which was headed by doctor of chemistry, PhD. Fisher.

In 1954-1963 the department was headed by docent N.A.Bem, from 1963 to 1976 and from 1985 to 1992 headed honored teacher of Uzbekistan, professor J.Matmuratov, assistant professor A.B.Bekbulatov headed in 1976-1981, docent T. X.Allabergenov headed in 1981-1985.

The department of Geography was divided into two departments: physical and economic geography from 1992-1993 academic year

From 1996 the Department of Physical Geography was headed by Assoc. prof. Allabergenov T. H., then, since 1996 was headed by candidate of Geographical Sciences Reimov P.

The Department of Economic Geography was headed by Assoc. prof. Umarov E. K., in 1992-1997.

In the 1997-1998 academic year, the Department of physical and economic geography were combined and assoc. prof. Reimov P. headed the Department from 1998 to 2009. Associate professor G.A.Khodjaeva was the head of the department in 2009-2015, and from 2015, the assoc.prof. N.J.Embergenov is leading.

Currently, the Department has 21 teachers, including 2 doctors, 5 PhD, associate Professor, 2 senior lecturer and 12 assistants.

Professors and teachers of department of Geography takes an active part in educational, methodical, research and educational work.

So far, more than 80 scientific monographs, textbooks and teaching aids have been published by professors and teachers of the department.

As a result of the research work, a comprehensive study of the ecological state of the Republic of Karakalpakstan will be conducted, as well as some recommendations for improving the ecological condition of the region. In the works developed by the Department of fundamental and applied research topics actively involved undergraduate and graduate students. Training seminars, trainings on the basis of foreign grants 530808-TEMPUS 1-2012-1 – HU-TEMPUS-JDCR “GE-UZ”: Geoinformatics: creating opportunities for sustainable development in Uzbekistan. As well as on the basis of the grant ERASMUS MUNDUS gSmart and Training of Individuals through Mobility from Uzbekistan Republic to EU teachers and students of the Department have been trained and experience exchange in leading educational institutions in Austria, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Sweden, the UK and others.

At the Republican Subject Olympiad in bachelor’s degree, among students of geographers and hydrologists in the 2009-2010 academic year, Hayrullaev Biradar took second, in the 2012-2013 academic year Kushaev Ruslan took the first place, in the 2016-2017 academic year Abdullaev Tazabek took second, in the 2017-2018 academic year Kalabaev Salauat took the third honorary place. Students Turdybekova Zamira and Akhmedova Zulkhumor are winners of the State scholarship named after Berdakh.

Embergenov Naurizbay Janabaevich, candidate of geographical Sciences, associate Professor. He was born 12 March 1976 in In 2004, he graduated Karakalpak State University. He defended his PhD thesis on ” Changes in the growth and placement of the population of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.” Published more than 40 scientific papers, including 1 study guide, 2 teaching methodological aids. He has been working at the Department since 2004. Since 2015, head of the Department of Geography.

Ballieva Ruza, candidate of geographical Sciences, doctor of historical Sciences, Professor. She was born in Kegeyli district on March 19, 1959. She graduated the faculty of Geography of Tashkent State University in 1982. She defended her PhD thesis on the theme: “Traditional nature use in connection with the release of the ecological crisis in the Aral sea” in 1994, her doctoral thesis defended on the theme: “Traditional use of nature and the Karakalpak ethnic group” in 2003. Published more than 100 scientific papers, including 2 monographs, 4 textbooks, 5 study guides and 4 training methodological manuals. She has been working at the Department since 1982.

 

Turdimambetov Izimbet Rakhmetovich, doctor of Geographical Sciences, associate Professor. He was born on 16 September 1976 in In 1998, he graduated Karakalpak State University. In 2005, he defended his PhD thesis on the theme: ” Medical geographical analysis of the Amudarya delta and improvement of its sanitary and hygienic situation”, and in 2016 he defended his doctoral thesis on “Socio-economic features of improving the nosogeographic situation of the Republic of Karakalpakstan”. Published more than 80 scientific articles and theses, including 1 monograph, 3 study guides. Since 1998 he has been working at the Department.

 

Abdireymov Salauat Jamalovich, candidate of geographical Sciences, associate Professor. He was born on August 15, 1967 in the Chimbay district. In 1984 he entered the Nukus state University, in 1992 he graduated the Moscow Agricultural Academy named after Temiryazev. In 2006 he defended his PhD thesis on ” Geoecological aspects of agricultural landscapes of the Amudarya delta (on the example of the Chimbay oasis)”. Published more than 50 scientific papers, including 1 monograph, 1 textbook, 3 study guides. He has been working at the University since 1993.

 

Allanazarov Keunimjay Jannazarovich, candidate of geographical Sciences, associate Professor. He was born on 1 September 1967, in Kegeyli district. In 1993 he graduated Karakalpak State University. In 2002 he defended his PhD thesis on ” Assessment of the natural conditions and resources of the non-irrigated part of the Amudarya delta for the development of agricultural sectors”. Published more than 50 scientific articles and theses, 1 textbook, 4 study guides. Since 1993 he has been working at the Department of geography.

Khodjaeva Gulya Userbaeva, candidate of geographical Sciences, associate Professor. She was born on March 8, 1968, in Takhiatash. In 1990 she graduated the Nukus state University. In 1998 she defended her thesis on ” Geodemographic situation and regulation of the development of the population of Karakalpakstan”. She has published more than 90 scientific works, including 1 monograph, 3 study guides, 5 training methodological manuals. Works at the Department since 1990

 

 

Sultashova Oralkhan Kenjebaeva, candidate of Geographical Sciences, associate Professor. She was born on September 1, 1977, in Kanlykul district. In 2001 she graduated Karakalpak State University. In 2011, she successfully defended her PhD thesis on “Thermal regime of soils of Uzbekistan”. He is the author of more than 60 scientific works, articles and theses, including 1 monograph, 1 textbook and 2 study guides. Works at the Department since 2010.
